In the spirit of this week’s
International Repair Day and International
E-Waste Day, it is a good opportunity to talk about the importance of minimising our waste, and how we can consider repairing our hearing aids instead of automatically buying new ones when there’s an issue. It is also a reminder of the environmental benefits of repairing, reusing and recycling electronic waste responsibly.
Electronic waste is one of the fastest growing waste streams in the world, with millions of products discarded each year before reaching the end of its usable life. Much like we would darn our socks back in the day, our attitude should be the same for our hearing aids. By extending the lifespan of your hearing aid through either regular maintenance or repair, you will also be making your small mark in helping to reduce their environmental impact. If you have been told by your hearing aid service provider that your hearing aid is no longer in warranty and beyond repair, you can give us a call, and we can see how we can help.
